Summer 2010
Master Gardeners Training Class

The McLennan County Master Gardeners will have a new training class this summer. Interested persons should attend an orientation session on April 21, 1 - 2 p.m. at the Woodway Family Center, 1100 Estates Drive in Woodway. Classes will be held weekly from June 2 until mid-September on Wednesday afternoons at the Arboretum.

Once the classroom training of approximately 60 hours is completed, attendees must earn the same number of volunteer hours within one year. Volunteer work is through the McLennan Co. AgriLife Extension office on topics related to gardening and horticulture. Participants become certified Master Gardeners after completing these requirements.

Topics included in training classes are lawn care, ornamental trees and shrubs, insects, disease, soils and plant nutrition, vegetable gardening, water conservation, and numerous other horticulture related subjects.

More information is available under "Become a Master Gardener" on this website or call the McLennan Co. AgriLife Extension Office at 757-5180 to be included for additional information.

As the webmaster I can brag! The MCMG's have been working hard and getting noticed. So much so I had to create a new page just for the awards.
