Texas State Technical College is home to the EarthKind Rose Trials, a rose testing program developed by Texas A&M horticulture specialists. These rose plants are being observed for growth rate, insect resistence, drought tolerance, and bloom profusion. The 45 roses, 3 each of 15 varieties, were planted by McLennan Co. Master Gardeners on a cold, rainy Jan. 27, 2005, at the TSTC campus. Master Gardener volunteers continue to monitor several aspects of plant growth to determine their ability to thrive in Central Texas with minimum care.
